Design For Democracy:
For this project, I was tasked with designing a concept poster for Vote.org that educates people about the voting process and encourages some sort of action (i.e. voting, donating, spreading the word, activism). In addition, I had to pick from a list of hypothetical people and design a poster that addresses their specific voting problems or misconceptions. The person I chose, named Frank, doesn't really think about voting. They feel like it doesn't really matter who is president since their life won't change. Finally, within the poster I had to make sure to include, Vote.org logo, Vote.org URL, and a compelling call to action.
It all started with a mood board…
To begin this project, I created a document that included photos, colors, typography, and possible call to action statements that would help influence my future poster.
Then it was time to create sketches…
Before I could start on my final poster, I drew rough sketches after receiving feedback from my peers on my mood board. I explored different viewpoints, subjects, and CTA statements in order to decide what route I wanted to take in my final version.
